Diagnostic Surgery

In the past, teeth that had been treated by root canal therapy and became symptomatic required a surgical procedure to determine the cause of the problem. Traditional x-rays lack the ability to detect cracks in teeth leaving the patient with a tooth that is symptomatic but appears radiographically healthy. Surgery to expose the root of the tooth was necessary in determining a diagnosis and treatment.

Thankfully surgery can be eliminated for determining if a tooth is cracked. Through a simple process of Dr. Murphy taking a 3D X-ray, he can evaluate and determine the precise location of the infection and crack and determine with you the best options for treatment.
